The Toll of a Demanding Career

I was an elite banker at Goldman Sachs. I thrived in a high-stakes world that was as rewarding as it was demanding. However, beneath this façade of success, I was fighting a losing battle—a battle against obesity and a looming diabetes diagnosis.

The toll of my career was evident in my declining health and well-being. Long working hours, chronic stress, and a diet of convenient but unhealthy meals contributed to significant weight gain. It was only after leaving the banking sector that I truly confronted the health issues I was grappling with.

Embracing a Plant-Based Lifestyle

Determined to regain control of my health, I embraced a plant-based lifestyle centered around raw foods and fresh fruits. But my initial optimism soon turned into frustration. My restrictive dieting only aggravated my binge eating tendencies. Conversely, when I ate more freely to manage binge eating, my blood sugar levels skyrocketed, exacerbating my diabetes.

Finding the Right Diet

A chance encounter in the park with a coach turned out to be a transformative moment. I had known her work for a while and she is a great raw food and frutarian coach. She sggested I get a personal chef and have the make me 3 meals a day and keep me on track. At first I said yes. But then It dawned on me—if I needed a “baby sitter” to prepare all my meals, then I was not eating the right diet. This realization served as my wake-up call.

I decided to abandon all preconceptions and start from scratch. I looked at what I liked, what I could make and what made me feel satisfied but keeped my blood sugar within range. I started viewing food differently—not as an enemy to fight, but as an ally to embrace. I built my meals around steamed ground vegetables, added variety with herbs and sauces, and included air-fried vegan protein for balance and a faithful bottle of mustard! The real power of this diet was not just its nutritional value but also its simplicity and accessibility—I could prepare these meals myself.

A Mindful Approach

But the transformation didn’t stop at diet alone. I developed a mindful approach to my cravings, allowing myself to experience them, understand them, and then let them pass. This practice of mindfulness extended beyond my meals and began to permeate all aspects of my life.

Gradually, I began to see positive changes. My weight started to normalize, my diabetes became manageable, and the joy I found in this new lifestyle was boundless. It was through this personal journey that I discovered my new purpose.

I realized I wanted to help others who were facing the same struggles I had experienced. I yearned to be more than a guide—I wanted to be a ‘hugprof’, a source of support, empathy, and understanding. With this newfound mission, I founded PlantHealed, a platform dedicated to empowering individuals to take control of their health, beat diabetes, and find joy in a plant-based diet.

Today, I’m more than just a health coach. I am a testament to the power of mindfulness, personal determination, and a balanced plant-based lifestyle. My mission is to share my journey, insights, and expertise to help you overcome your own health challenges.
